Books.
A book is the only place in which you can examine a fragile thought without breaking it, or explore an explosive idea without fear it will go off in your face. It is one of the few havens remaining where a man's mind can get both provocation and privacy. ~ Edward P. Morgan
The truth is, this is the truth. This is quote from 1910, needless to say it is a bit of an antique. However, now, more than ever, this statement holds weight. With TV, news, radio, postcasts, iphone, ipads for that matter, inundating us all with a barrage of trivial entertainment we begin to take for granted the quietude of our own minds and our own imaginative powers. Books are my way to get back to that state. To turn off the blue glow of electronics and to retreat in a book is such a gift. Here is a list of my favorite reads of all time. One's that I confidently recommend to you.
Blindness – Jose Saramago
Infinite Jest – David Foster Wallace
Incredibly Loud and Extremely Close – Jonathan Safran Foer
Flowers for Algernon – Daniel Keyes
Peter Pan – J.M. Barrie
The Poinsonwood Bible – Barbara Kingsolver
Never Let Me Go – Kazuo Ishiguro
Mrs. Dalloway – Virginia Woolf
